The Penge Preservation Society

The Penge Preservation Society has two objectives:
1. To promote the preservation of the unique character of Penge, London SE20
2. To oppose unwarranted, inappropriate and destructive redevelopment in all parts of Penge, London SE20

In other words, we love Penge and wish, as far as possible, to keep it looking the way it is. That doesn’t mean that we are against development, but we want any additional housing or new construction to be sensitive to the needs of Penge and sympathetic to the unique character of our neighbourhood.

The peace and harmony of our neighbourhood is currently being threatened by developers wishing to turn Penge into a new Croydon, with tower blocks which will ruin the skyline and place an intolerable burden on our infrastructure.

If Bromley Council and developers get their way, they will change Penge from this…

To this..

However, unwelcome and predatory redevelopment is not inevitable. When Orpington was faced with a destructive project by the Areli Property Group, they mobilised the local population to object, and the result was that the plans have been shelved for the time being. We are not helpless when faced with developers, even though they have significant resources at their disposal. The Penge Preservation Society will fight unwelcome developments anywhere in Penge, and, with the help of the citizens of our town, we can force developers to modify their plans.
